Lecture: Leatherback Sea Turtles

Location:
LGI Room (UC 113/114)
Dates:
Tue, Mar 4, 2014, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Description

The leatherback sea turtle, known as the earth’s last dinosaur, will be the focus of the lecture “In Search of Leatherbacks; A Field Study in Costa Rica” at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 4, in the LGI Room (UC-114) at UW-Fond du Lac, 400 University Dr.

The community is invited to this free lecture by Trish Strohfeldt, biology lecturer. Strohfeldt will lead a group of 19 students from UW-Fond du Lac and other UW schools during a study abroad class May 28-June 5 to Costa Rica.

The students in the course will be conducting a field study on the leatherbacks and helping to preserve the habitat of this endangered sea turtle. The leatherback sea turtle is the last surviving member of its genus, Dermocheyls, and faces many obstacles to its survival.
