Jessica Plasky, Fond du Lac, and Eliza Wagner-Kinyon, Cascade, are the recipients of this annual scholarship for students transferring into UW-Oshkosh after completion of their associate degree at UW-Fond du Lac.

Lindsey Talbot and Evan Warnke have been nominated to compete for the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship at their regional festival next January.

A team of faculty and staff from the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac will be partnering with the Fond du Lac School District to conduct research and evaluate the impact of the 1:1 computing initiative at Fond du Lac High School.

This year’s Commencement speaker is Greg Lampe, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for the UW Colleges. The student speaker is Kathleen (Kate) Bauer.

The Art Students League at UW-Fond du Lac will present Art Momentum 2012, 5-9 p.m. on Friday, May 11, in the University Center Commons, 400 University Dr. The event is free and open to the public.

UW-Fond du Lac students were recently inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor society.

UW-Fond du Lac’s Music Department will host a percussion recital by student Jamison Kifer at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Apr. 22, in the Prairie Theater.

The public is invited to join the UW-Fond du Lac campus community in a lecture by an educator from India along with a presentation by a musician and composer from India on Tuesday, Apr. 10.

The award has been established to honor and recognize UW-Fond du Lac alumni who have attained notable achievement in their career field, demonstrated philanthropic or public service activity in support of the community or provided inspiration to others. Nomination deadline is April 17.

Public, private and home-schooled students and their parents will gain important information on class choices and high school rigor. This program is for all college bound students planning to attend any post-secondary school.

The Falcon will spread its wings and cheer on the UW-Fond du Lac soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball and golf teams. The Falcon will also make special appearances at university events and represent UW-Fond du Lac at community events.

This festival celebrates independent, experimental and cutting-edge short films and is known for its national public exhibition program which tours across the United States and abroad to approximately 65 universities, libraries, museums and other community organizations annually.

Campus Compact, a national organization of college and university presidents, has honored UW-Fond du Lac student Kathleen (Kate) Bauer as a 2012 Newman Civic Fellow. The Newman Civic Fellows Awards recognize inspiring college student leaders who have worked to find solutions for challenges facing their communities.

UW-Fond du Lac to offer Phlebotomy Technician Exam Preparation Program

Two students from the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac recently presented the results of their research study at the 9th annual Posters in the Rotunda event on March 7 in Madison.

Tera Annoye, UW-Fond du Lac’s returning adult specialist, is available to meet with prospective adult students during this time and discuss the steps necessary to apply to UW-Fond du Lac. She can also answer questions that go along with returning to school after being away for either a short period of time or for many years.

Eight students from the UW-Fond du Lac Habitat for Humanity Club will be hitting the road during their spring break and traveling to Georgia to participate in Habitat for Humanity’s collegiate “Blitz Build” Mar. 17-24.

Alayne Peterson, English professor, will present the next lecture on “Steampunk Literature” at noon or 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 13. Light refreshments will be served.

Poet Margaret Rozga will present a free reading of her poems 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 7, in UC-114. The poems are from her newly released book, “Though I Have Been to Baghdad,” which details her emotional responses to her son’s deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

The heart-warming comedy, “Over the Tavern” by Tom Dudzick, will be performed Mar. 7-11 in the Prairie Theater. Show times are Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Produced and directed by Richard Gustin, UW-Fond du Lac communication and theater arts professor.

Highest honors represent a grade point average of 4.00, high honors are awarded for a grade point average of 3.75 to 3.99 and honors are awarded for a grade point average of 3.50 to 3.74.

Megan Wetherbee has been chosen as a UW Colleges nominee for the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education program.

Presenter Doug Bradley, a Madison-based Vietnam veteran, served as a U.S. Army journalist in the war in 1970 and 1971. He will tell the story of the Vietnam War through the music-based memories of those who served.

The public is invited to attend this free event which will feature UW Colleges music faculty. UW-Fond du Lac is one of the 13 UW Colleges.

The Continuing Education Office at the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac is offering a full day crisis communication workshop, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27.

Students transferring credits from UW-Fond du Lac to UW-Oshkosh can get additional guidance as the result of the recently established Titan Transfer Center.

The three-week Winterim session at UW-Fond du Lac runs Jan. 3-20. The spring 2012 semester will begin Jan. 23.

This concert features the UW-Fond du Lac Community Band directed by Dan Rager, assistant professor of music, and the UW-Fond du Lac Chorus and U-FiDeLity directed by Patricia Eby, associate professor of music.

UW-Fond du Lac Theater Dept. to present "My Soldiers" Nov. 2-6

Many nursing programs at University of Wisconsin schools require students to have completed a nursing assistant course with clinical component and have a current CNA certificate at time of application. A partnership agreement signed recently brings a nursing assistant three-credit course to pre-nursing majors at the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac through Clarity Care.

Veteran’s benefit presentation at UW-Fond du Lac on Oct. 27

“America’s Wars: The Personal Impact,” will be held noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, in the LGI Room. Panelists will be current military personnel, area veterans and current and former UW-Fond du Lac students who will share their unique perspectives on wars from World War II to the present. 

Area residents will have a new degree option at the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac and several nearby UW Colleges campuses as a result of a new agreement with UW-Oshkosh to launch a regional bachelor’s degree collaboration in special education in fall 2012.
