Gromme presentation

A print by wildlife artist and naturalist Owen Gromme was presented to UW-Fond du Lac on Sept. 13 as a permanent addition to the campus art collection.

Gromme received inspiration for many of his pieces from the land on and around where the campus stands today, including the Gottfried Prairie and Arboretum. Michael Mentzer, UW-Fond du Lac lecturer and author of a book on Owen Gromme, provided some background on the artist who grew up in the area.

The print was donated by the Windhover Center for the Arts (now THELMA) with framing donated by Julie Balson and the Gallery and Frame Shop. The project was coordinated by Susan Fiebig and included donation of a print to four educational institutions - UW-Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac High School, Lakeshore School and MPTC.

Shown in the photo (left to right) are UW-Fond du Lac Dean John Short, Susan Fiebig, Julie Balson, Michael Mentzer and UW-Fond du Lac Foundation Board President Darin Garbisch.
