Dan Rager joined the UW-Fond
du Lac faculty in the fall of
2008. Prior to that, he taught
ten years at Lakeland Community
College in Kirtland, Ohio.
He is recognized
internationally as a composer
and conductor of symphonic music
and is in demand as a composer
and conductor throughout the
United States, Canada, Europe
and Russia. In addition, he has
over 100 compositions and
arrangements published by major
publishing companies.
His music enjoys
international performances and
recordings by The Cleveland
Chamber Symphony, The United
States Navy Band, The Cleveland
Orchestra, The Cleveland Jazz
Orchestra, Frederick Fennell
Symphonic Winds, The Washington
Winds, The Apollo String
Quartet, The Saratov
Philharmonic Orchestra of

Recent Awards
• 1996: Composed opening
ceremonial music for the city of
Cleveland, Ohio bicentennial
celebration.
• 2001: First American
composer/conductor from
Cleveland, Ohio invited to
conduct in Saratov and Siberia,
Russia.
• 2003: Awarded first prize
by The American Composers Forum
for his 2nd symphony, “Prairie
River Reflections.”
• 2003: Received Honorable first
place by The International
Orchestra Association for his
French Horn concerto “Colours of
Saratov.”
• 2002/03/04/05: Awarded
commissions by The Cleveland
Composers Guild for The
Cleveland Music School
Settlement’s student competition
contest.
• 2006: Awarded first prize by
the Brandt Brass & Percussion
Ensemble of Russia for his 5 Mvt.
divertimento, “State of Mind”.
Premiered at the (ITG)
International Trumpet Guild
conference in Bangkok, Thailand.
• Additionally, he is a
recipient of awards sponsored by
ASCAP, American Composers Forum,
the John S. Knight Foundation,
The Rockefeller Foundation, The
National Endowment for the Arts
and the Public Broadcasting
Service (PBS), to name a few.
He enjoys performing with his
wife Natalya, an international
award winning Russian French
Hornist. Their hobbies are
vegetable, flower gardening and
spending time on Lake Winnebago.
